I’ve decided that I want a $5,000 check from Frank too. I’ve got big plans for that $$$$ to help my neighbors install adequate lighting around their properties so they will feel safer.
Frank owes this community much much more than he will likely ever have to pay but I can help him atone for his evil ways. And I’m cute as a bug too, I’ve heard that counts for something!!
This blog post took a decidedly different direction than originally planned - due to my increasing awareness of all the violence going down in Pottstown this past week.
I want Frank to give that check directly to me, not the borough, because the more I learn about the values and conspicuously marginal competence of the management and some of the employees in borough hall, their historical disconnect with the realities of life in Pottstown, it is increasingly apparent that much of what they do is diametrically opposed to sound governing. What’s best for this community is rarely given so much as remote consideration.
Most of them don’t live in town and their choices while on the job have very little personal impact. They get a pay check, toss a few political favors around, make a name for themselves, (good or bad), they are assured a comfortable retirement and that’s all that seems to count, really. No pride in accomplishment, no passion, no compassion, nada, the well is dry.
Council? The Mayor? They live in town so I’m at a loss to explain why or how the status quo works for them. They stand as much chance as we do of being sabotaged and robbed – or uh – let’s say they would stand as much of a chance if they ever spent any time- feet on the ground – getting familiar with the struggles we face in the afflicted areas of town
While I’m raising funds for lighting, I would also like a check for $3,000 for each year that Michelle Borzick Fry, (zoning work leader in the codes department), has duped the taxpayers. I’ll speak more to that in a following blog.

Receipt for Fancy Wheel Rims
Leaving no stone unturned for funds to buy lighting, I want to see taxpayers compensated for the monies that were spent on fancy rims for Flanders, Drumheller’s and every SUV in use by the police department. It’s been challenged before, and there is a colorful history, (as with most things in Pottstown), but no clear resolution as to the Legitimacy of These Expenditures. The manufacturer, Ford, says the original, standard equipment steel rims are far safer anyway. The aluminum rims are just for show.
So, I’ll error on the side of the community – again – when I say that OUR safety is paramount, more important to us than nice lookin’ rims and there should be no other considerations, Right?
Street lights are a good place to start.
So, along with the $33,000 chunk of taxpayer change that council pointlessly tossed in the direction of Remington, Vernick & Beach, (I’d like that to be given back too), and the $8,000 that went down the drain to pay for a professional search for a professional borough manager….hey, I THINK WE COULD END UP WITH SOME SERIOUS CASH.
OUR NEIGHBORHOODS NEED adequate street lighting. We ALSO need police officers who are brave, well-trained, motivated and unafraid to cover this neighbohood on foot and on bike. Obviously we need them on High St. too.
This fact is certainly not news to the local government and it’s been brought to the attention of multiple talking heads for many many years, including the District Attorney’s Office.
I guess they think that the folks who live in Pottstown are dense. I ask: have leaders of this borough and this county grown more dense with such thick callouses around their hearts that they don’t care about us?
It often looks that way.
We listen to lame excuse, after lame excuse from everyone up there, including Mayor Heath… mumble mumble ‘civil rights this and civil rights that’ but now….
The friggin’ bands of hooded criminals officially have more civil rights than we do. Our gov’t gave ‘em an inch and they’ve taken a mile.
WHAT ABOUT OUR CIVIL RIGHTS?

I contend and, I’ll offer evidence, in a future blog post, that the needs and rights of honest, good taxpayers of this borough are being trompled into the ground for the simple fact that…
Pottstown suffers, (and I DO mean suffers), under the weight of a shameful history of incompetent, irrelevant leadership. Inconsistency, confusion, a hostile work environment, pay for play, an environment tinged with sexual under and overtones among employees and tolerated by management.
There is an abiding, long standing neglect from management and council to address issues of unethical, even corrupt behaviors by some people who work for the municipality. Management that actually enable people like – Frank McLaughlin -
It comes as no surprise that the perennial hooded, gun totin’, knife wielding creeps are ”in season”
again in Pottstown, lurking and laying in wait in the dark recesses of our neighborhoods – fishing for their next victims – there is no effective leadership, no methodology, no system, no plan to address these problems of crime in our community so we anticipate them like we expect four seasons every year.
Attacking women on the streets, selling drugs out of they mama’s homes and pissin’ outdoors on the tires on our cars, our fences, flowers, trees, and…
WHAT NOW? Punchin’ cops in the nose ???
We’ve been trying to tell this Police Department that it’s not safe to be on High St. that is, unless you’re a drug dealer, hooker, panhandler or general all purpose thug, now do you believe us???
I’m sorry about this assault, because we have good cops in this town but they also suffer from arbitrary leadership, inconsistency, favoritism, humiliation and low morale for many of them, (if they are not regarded as one of the “golden boys”)
I’m curious to see if Mayor Bonnie can spin this violent event into cotton candy, sunshine, lollipops, rainbows, and little puppy dog tails – OK – leave off the puppy dog tails -the Mayor isn’t a fan of dogs.

Neighbors, here’s a tip from your friendly, local, Golden Cockroach. I want you to be safe until those checks arrive and we can put some decent lighting up on our streets…

Mama’s – Keep your babies away from 458 Cherry St. they are in danger from drug dealers.
Please sign up for Facebook if you’re not already a member because that’s where you will find out what’s really going on in your neighborhoods as friends and neighbors share their experiences of gun fire, robberies, drug dealers who are currently freely and openly selling heroin and crack out of a home at 458 Cherry St. and, a young woman who is now hospitalized from consuming their heroin.
All of this information in one day – Wednesday – on Facebook. IT IS A PROVERBIAL FOUNTAIN OF KNOWLEDGE - things that local government won’t tell you, that may spare you a nasty experience.
Please, don’t walk at night if you don’t have to. If you have to be out at night – don’t walk alone and remain vigilant at all times.
Get smart and understand how to protect yourself, it’s a doggy dog world in Pottstown, each man, woman and each officer for themselves. Until next time….
I’LL KEEP THE LIGHT ON – Stay Safe!!

Ok, so if these punks are gonna walk up and punch a COP in the face… what chance does the average law-abiding citizen stand? Approximately ZERO is my guess. This is pathetic.
I can’t help but wonder if some of this behavior isn’t enabled by the Cops. From my experiences, the following is typically what happens: A citizen places a call for police assistance, the Cops come out and belittle the caller by minimizing the incident, basically they are interested in taking a report and getting the hell outta there. No charges are ever filed….. BUT you will NEVER know this unless YOU (the caller) follows up (incessantly). Once the police leave, the problem property says “they ain’t gonna do nothin”… and, unfortunately, they are almost always correct.
This has now taught good citizen to “not bother” the cops. This has also taught problem property- you may continue your bad behavior UNABATED.
How often does the bad behavior REALLY go away on it’s own? Ummmmm- almost never. What does bad behavior tend to do? Ummmmmm- continue and increase in frequency and severity.
The Police need to take a hard-line stance on all crime. Show the thugs they are serious and (re)establish credibility.
Clearly, when an individual feels comfortable walking up and PUNCHING a LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL IN THE FACE….. “we” have not sent a loud or clear enough message.
Thanks for letting me share…and cuss. It’s kind of like a NarAnon meeting without the drive and the dollar.
You got it anytime you need it. I have been dropping the “F” bomb far more often than ususal, since I’ve begun to learn and understand why our community is failing. Repeat after me:
“I AM ANGRY AND I’M NOT (fuckin’) GOING TO TAKE IT ANY MORE.” ahhhh – very cathartic
I fucking hate heroine! My son got his first taste of it from Mike who used to live on the NW corner of King and Warren…but Mike was not the dealer, just a douche bag from NA. For the last year or two I had summoned the courage to forgive Mike, but after the last three months, I think he may be lucky that I don’t know where he has disappeared to. Now we live day to day not knowing whether our first born will live…at all. Just for today, and God grant me the serenity!
My eyes are open.
Friend, I cannot tell you the depth of my pissed-offed-ness with the news of your son. I send my love, hope, peace and goodwill to you and your family. You are in my heart.
FUCK the drug dealers and FUCK the people who are empowered to stand in their way – but don’t.
